Floreal Madagascar: Creating a zero-waste textile industry
22-07-2022

Traditionally, the ‘take-make-dispose' economy is known to be responsible for having a significant impact on our planet.

At Floreal, we are on a journey towards circular economy. Our goal: going ZERO-WASTE!

A zero textile-waste initiative

“We are glad to announce that at our Floreal factories in Madagascar, we have streamed down our textile waste to 0%.” declares Amit Khullar, CEO at Floreal Group.

Our teams are collecting all scrap knitwear materials (wool, cotton, etc. from rewinding, overcasting and leftover overlock) which are being sent to a recycler to be shredded and spun into blankets.

Bonus: This move contributes to 30% reduction of carbon-dioxide, thus reducing our environmental footprint.

Repurposing scrap knitwear waste into blankets

Did you know? With 1,000 kg of knitwear waste, we can produce 1 blanket!

In this winter season, our teams are currently distributing 5,000 upcycled blankets to all our Malagasy employees.

What’s next?

Floreal is committed to giving back to the community and will, therefore, also be handing out upcycled blankets to the inhabitants of surrounding communities.

Stay tuned for upcoming releases of the Circularity series!
