Meet the Head of Production Planning and Executive Assistant to the CEO at Laguna India. Her 12 years and counting at the organization tell a tale of talent, passion and pure drive.

Dare to be different

Quiet and introspective, Snigdha . knew what she wanted from a young age. “When the time came to choose my career path, I knew I wanted to stay in a technical field, although, unlike my friends, I didn’t feel the call for the engineering or medical routes”.

And so, she dared to be different. “That’s when I got to know about the Apparel Production course at NIFT. I cracked the entrance test at the first try! Fortunately so, because I hadn’t even applied for any other fashion college.”, she remembers, as she admits she’d settle for nothing less than the best.

Crafting skill with real-world experience

What she appreciated most from her studies was the perfect balance they struck. “This holistic course taught us everything about apparel manufacturing. From pattern making, to merchandising, industrial engineering, fabric technology, quality and so much more!

Yet, we also gained professional exposure during the 8-week apparel internship, as well as our graduation project.” The well-rounded preparation allowed her to “plug and play” this knowledge wherever Laguna India needed her during her internship… And she still applies this knowledge in her daily life!

A career that was meant to be

It all began during her time at NIFT. “I’d heard a lot about the organization. Laguna India, as a part of CIEL Textile, was already known to be one of the best formal shirt makers across the globe”. The aspiring graduate fully manifested the dream of joining the team as part of her graduation project. “In truth, Laguna India proved even better than what I’d heard. Whether in terms of systems, technology, employee-centricity, or customer-centricity”.

No wonder she’s still hard at work! After 12 years and counting at Laguna India, Snigdha brought her talent to various departments. From production planning to supply chain and sustainability, the once graduation trainee has certainly come a long way!

“Trust your passion”

That’s the essence of her advice to young professionals starting out. Make the most of every internship and job—soak up everything you can, and choose a path that genuinely sparks your interest. Instead of following others, trust your passion and what makes you unique. Remember: success means stepping out of your comfort zone!”, she concludes.

The young graduate dared to transform an internship into a successful career. “Give it your best shot” is certainly the keynote of this encounter!
